First level checking of EVMs held at SWKH

SHILLONG Dec 22: The First Level Checking of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) was held on Friday and Saturday at the DC’s office Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills (SWKH) District.
Engineers from the Electronic Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) along with the District Election Officer   A.Mawlong, Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge Election K.L.Nongbri, Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge training and personnel M.S.Sangma, Extra Assistance Commissioner A.Nongbri and Master trainers took part in checking the EVMs during these two days.


One hundred forty three Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) to be used for the forth coming General Election 2013 to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly were thoroughly checked by the EVM’s Engineers and Master trainers.
Mock poll was also conducted on Saturday in presence of the representatives of the political parties which included from the INC, UDP, HSPDP, NPP and NCP.
The District Election Officer along with the Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge Election explained briefly to the representatives of the political parties on how to cast their votes through EVMs. The mock poll was intensively done whereby eight numbers of EVMs were used and the total number of votes polled per machine was 1008 votes.
