Shillong, Nov 27: Federation for Khasi Jaintia and Garo People,(FKJGP) Williamnagar Zone on Tuesday Participated in the signature campaign in Williamnagar, to protest against the former Education Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh for her alleged hand in malpractices and tampering of marks in the result sheets of the LP School Teachers Recruitment examination.

‘No festivals’ during school exams: WKSU

Nongstoin, Nov 27: The West Khasi Student Union (WKSU) Central Body Tuesday demanded the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills not to allow any festival or entertainment event to be conducted during schools exams in the district to avoid any disturbance to the school students.

Nongstoin, Nov 27: In viewing of the fact that around 150 villages of Meghalaya have fallen into Assam territory, Nongstoin MLA HS Lyngdoh Tuesday held a public meeting at Nongstoin to discuss the issue.
The public meeting was chaired by Nongstoin MDC, LG Nongsiej and attended by KP Pangniang, MDC Rambrai, Dr. Fenella Lyngdoh Nonglait an HSPDP MLA candidate from Mawthadraishan Constituency, EK Raswai Mawkyrwat MDC, Hindro Samakha, Sordar Hima Raid Mynsaw, Tras Nonglang President VOALC, K. Thongni President HANM Patharkhmah Circle of Ri-Bhoi District, Arfuk K. Bani President HANM West Khasi Hills District and the general public.

CM distributes pension under SAS at Rongara

Shillong, Nov 27: Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Monday distributed pension to beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Social Assistance Scheme (CMSAS) and inaugurated the Enterprise Facilitation Centre (EFC) at Rongara C and RD Block in South Garo Hills.
Solar lamps under the Chief Minister’s Programme for the Promotion of Renewable Energy and Conservation were also distributed to school students by the CM during the inauguration.

UN recognizes Tourism industry as ‘anti poverty driver’

SHILLONG, Nov 27: Andra Pradesh Special Chief Secretary of Youth Advancement Tourism and Culture, Archana Khan Tuesday said that tourism has been recognized by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as an ‘anti poverty driver’ which can generate employment avenues to the people in the North East region.
She was addressing at the 2nd Travel and Tourism Bazaar organized by Fairs and Festivals, a Kolkata-based organization, in collaboration with the Meghalaya Tourism Department.
