SHILLONG, Dec 03: The people of Meghalaya may get the Megha Health Insurance Scheme – IV (MHIS IV) as a Christmas gift from the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government which is going all out to restart the scheme on the said date.
Informing this here on Monday, the state’ Health & Family Welfare minister, AL Hek said that the governmenbt wants to launch the MHIS-IV on December 20.
“We want to present the people of the state with a Christmas gift,” the state Health Minister said.
The signing of contract between the state nodal agency and the Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd took place at the conference hall of the main Secretariat.
The contract was signed by MHIS CEO cum Secretary of Health and Family Welfare department and Reliance General Insurance Co.Ltd Segment head – government business group Dr Saumya Kumar Misra.
The MHIS – Phase IV will be implemented in convergence with the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
After a rigorous selection procedure, Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd emerged as the lowest bidder for implementation of the scheme.
The government also assured that continuous efforts are being made to roll out the scheme at the earliest.
Registration for MHIS-IV in convergence with AB-PMJAY will start on January next year.
An official informed that registration procedures and locations will be made known prior to the start, on various platforms of the mass media and at local levels as well.
“Citizens of the state are also urged to bear with us as we strive to provide quality health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakhs to all families of the state barring state and central government employees,” he said.
The benefits of this convergence can be availed at empanelled health facilities in the state and outside of Meghalaya.
