TURA, Nov 29: A conglomeration of NGOs from North Garo Hills have filed a FIR against one facebook user who goes by the name of LST Tabha (Partha Rabha) after the user posted a video of hate against the Garo community a few days ago.
The FIR was filed on Thursday at the Mendipathar Police Station by the GSU, FKJGP, FAF, AYWO, AAYF, GSMC and ARSU (M) against the post which they stated sought to bring about communal tensions between two different communities.
The decision to file a FIR came after a meeting between the NGOs at Mendipathar.

In the 24:11 long video, the facebook user can be seen make obscene comments against a particular community which immediately went viral after it was posted to a social media group known as ‘A’chik Whatsapp Group’.
Condemnation for the video came immediately after it was posted with most seeking the immediate arrest of the person or persons behind the hate video.
The NGO stated that the video insulted, outraged, threatened as well as attempted to bring about communal disharmony.
“He even posted comments that were derogatory to women of our community in the same group and maligned the image of our community. This malicious act has caused ill-will and disrespected the dignity of our community,” they added.
The NGOs have demanded immediate action against the culprit under various sections of the law for trying to create communal disharmony.
“We want the culprit arrested and booked immediately. No one has the right to malign another community the way this person did. We would like to ask everyone to please stop spreading the video further and allow for the law to take its own course. This is shameful,” said a member of All Rabha Students’ Union (Meghalaya).
