TURA, Nov 07: The West Garo Hills District tops the state with regard to the implementation of Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) by achieving 97 % as on Wednesday as 166855 beneficiaries have received vaccination out of the total target of 172082 children in the district.
This was informed during the 4th District Task Force Committee (DTFC) meeting held at Tura Circuit House on 7th November, 2018 where Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman District Health Society, West Garo Hills, Ram Singh, District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), West Garo Hills, Tura Dr. M R Sangma, RRT, World Health Organisation, Dr M Vivekson, Senior Health and Medical Officer, Tura Dr I M Sangma, Fr Sunny M, Director, Bakdil, Tura, other Officials, Heads of Institutions attended the meeting.
During the meeting, while assessing and reviewing the performance of the district, the Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman, Ram Singh have congratulated all those involved in the immunisation process for their support and hard work towards the successful implementation of the immunisation campaign in the district in spite of few refusal pockets and hard to reach areas. He had also expressed his gratitude to the heads of schools in the district for their support and cooperation during the campaign.
Further, the Nodal Officer Dr I M Sangma while briefing the overall performance of the district, informed the gathering that in spite of various constraints faced, the immunisation team have managed to achieved 97 per cent in the district and added that tackling the refusal villages is still a challenge for the team since there are still 43 partially refusal villages to be covered in the district.
