IMPHAL, Oct 12: Normalcy has returned in Manipur University after the intervention of the High Court of Manipur.
On Friday, the agitating organizations - Manipur University Student Union (MUSU), Manipur University Teacher Association (MUTA) and Manipur University Staff Association (MUSA) welcomed the newly appointed Administrator of Manipur University.

Jarnail Singh IAS (retired) is a former Chief Secretary of Manipur who was appointed by the High Court of Manipur as the Administrator of the varsity on Thursday. The court intervention came even as the over 100-day long impasse was getting complicated.
Earlier in the day as Jarnail Singh was on his way to his office, members of MUSU, MUTA and MUSA accorded him a warm reception by organising a programme impromptu at Centenary Hall of Manipur University.
Speaking on the occasion, Jarnail Singh expressed happiness that members of MUSU, MUTA and MUSA accorded him a warm reception. The new Administrator of the varsity also said that he will try his best to address every issue of the varsity. He then appealed everyone to extend co-operation to him in his efforts toward resolving issues.
It may be noted here that the protest in the Manipur University began on May 30, 2018 demanding enquiry into the “administrative and financial irregularities” in the management of the university under Prof A P Pandey. MUSU, MUTA and MUSA also accused Prof A P Pandey, Vice Chancellor of the varsity of taking frequent leave.
