SHILLONG, Sep 15: Former Chief Minister, DD Lapang’s decision to part ways with the Congress party is a great blow to the Grand Old Party, as opined by the Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson who is in charge of Meghalaya, Nalin Kohli.
“No question about it he is one of those founding members I thinks it would also be something the Congress party must be realizing itself that he is parting ways after such a long journey which is a blow,” Kohli had said on Saturday.
Kohli also said that the Congress party needs to explain why such a senior leader who has served the party for so many decades has decided to resign. While adding that Lapang himself would be in a better position to give this explanation, Kohli said that Lapang’s decision will no doubt be a big loss for the Congress party in Meghalaya.
Asked whether the BJP will approach Lapang and invite him to join the Saffron Party, Kohli pointed out that Lapang, in his resignation letter had specifically said that he wishes to continue serving the people of the state.
Kohli also said that he has not interacted with Lapang on this regard even as he termed Lapang as a gentleman.
