SHILLONG, Sep 11: As many as 1000 aspiring teachers may get appointment in the state’s different government schools as the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government is planning to fill up these posts before the end of 2018.
“The government has decided to start the process of recruitment very soon start. We also wanted to complete the process within the month of December,” the state’s Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui informed in this regard on Tuesday.
Lahkmen said there are around 1,000 plus teacher posts which are lying vacant in the government primary and upper primary schools in the state.
He also said that the aspirants who have completed the Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test (MTET) will be eligible for applying for these teacher posts.
According to him, the recruitment will be totally based as per the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) norms.
Earlier last week, the State Cabinet had approved a proposal to increase the upper age limit for teachers in schools and colleges in the state from 27 to 32 with aim to get quality teachers.
There will be a relaxation for ST candidates by five years, thereby fixing the upper age at 37.
