SHILLONG, Aug 09: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday said that the government is currently examining the demand of the various pressure groups to introduce NRC like exercise in the state as well as the KHADC Khasi Socio Custom Lineage Amendment bill.
Conrad had made this statement during a review meeting held here on Thursday to discuss the demand on NRC or NRC like exercise.

Talking to members of the media fraternity after the meeting, Conrad said that as a government they should understand all the process and the situation in detail on what could be the possible impact.
“As a government it is important to for us to review the matter and get an update,” Conrad said.
On the KHAD (Khasi Social Custom of Lineage) (Second Amendment) Bill, 2018 that was passed on to the state government by the Governor, Ganga Prasad for examination, Conrad said that there is no update as of now but it would be only appropriate for them to discuss the matter in detail.
