DIMAPUR, Aug 06:  The Naga Hoho has demanded that Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tenders an unconditional apology to the Naga people for “mocking the Naga traditional attire immediately”.
The Naga Hoho said that it “out-rightly” condemned the reported statement of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor for allegedly abusing the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi for wearing Naga headgear as “outlandish and hilarious”.

The Naga Hoho said it is “inexcusable” from a person of such a stature. “His statement though meant to be humorous shows the contemptuous mentality of some of mainstream Indians towards the northeast and in particular the Nagas,” the Naga Hoho stated.
According to the Naga Hoho, even in the past, the Congress leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have worn the Naga headgears and traditional dresses “keeping in mind that India is a democratic secular country but no political parties or individuals showed such disregard and impudence as that of Shashi Tharoor”
