One militant lynched, another arrested in EGH

TURA, Aug 04: The aftermath of the encounter on Friday at Tarasin village under Songsak PS in East Garo Hills (EGH) led to one of the militants belonging to the NDFB being lynched while another former militant of the GNLA was arrested by police while trying to escape in a vehicle near Rongmil.
One Aita Boro, who had escaped the police firing and reached the village of Baringgre under Rongjeng PS was caught by villagers and lynched after being brutally thrashed.


Both the arrest as well as the lynching took place on Friday, Aug 3 in EGH.
Meanwhile, the other former GNLA cadre, Rimpu (Grikseng N Sangma) was arrested by the police while he was trying to escape in Winger to Assam. He was caught at Rongmil during a vehicle check.
“Rimpu was the one coordinating with the NDFB cadres. He was also present during the encounter. He was intercepted near Rongmil,” confirmed the EGH SP, Ringrang TG Momin.
Friday’s encounter between the police and a mixed group of suspected Garo criminals and NDFB militants saw one militant killed while many are suspected to have been injured. The killed militant has been identified as Koma Boro.
