SHILLONG, Aug 04: The MLA representing Mawkyrwat constituency, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar has urged the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to expedite the work of construction the two-lane national highway from Mawphlang to Mawkyrwat-Ranikor.
The MLA informed this after meeting the NHIDCL executive director W Blah and general manager Col MS Deol at New Delhi recently.
Tongkhar said that the NHIDCL had assured him that soon the corporation would float tender for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
“They have also assured that the survey for the road project will be completed within 9 months and after two years the construction work can be started while the targeted time to complete the road is four years,” he said.
Lyngdoh said that he had requested the corporation to speed up the process since the road has been one of the long pending aspirations of the people of the constituency. According to him, the road will be a blessing not only to the people of Mawphlang, Mawsynram, Mawkyrwat, Ranikor and Baghmara constituency but the state as a whole.
