SHILLONG, July 11: While the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has extended its support to the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for the Ranikor by polls, Martin M Danggo, it has reserved its decision when it comes to the South Tura by poll where Conrad Sangma is the NPP candidate.

Conrad had recently appealed to the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition partners to extended their support to the NPP for the by polls.
Commenting on this, BJP legislator AL Hek said that the BJP is supporting the common NPP candidate in the Ranikor by polls but as far as the South Tura by poll is concerned, the BJP will hold a meeting of its executive committee and decide on this.
The BJP legislator further reasoned that in the recently concluded Assembly polls, BJP candidate  Billykid Sangma finished second with a good vote share and if he is not given an opportunity, he might slip over to other parties and therefore a thorough discussion is needed before a decision on the matter is arrived at.
