SHILLONG, July 10: Fresh on the heels of its chairman, Pynshngain N Syiem resigning from the post of CEM of the KHADC, the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) has said that it may field a candidate to contest the post in the election of which will be held on Wednesday.
Newly elected parliamentary party leader of the PDF James Ban Basaiawmoit said, “If the majority of the members still want the PDF to lead the Council, we may file a nomination for the post.”
He however said that he would first convene a meeting of all the MDCs of the party to take a call on the matter.
Basaiawmoit admitted that usually the PP leader should be the candidate for the CEM post. “However, we are yet to take a call on this,” he added.
Admitting that the party is a divided house after 4 of its 11 MDCs have gone to support the newly formed Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance (KHDA), he said that it would be his duty to try to resolve the misunderstanding at the earliest and ensure all MDCs are intact.
