Pine city upset with disruption of Jio services

SHILLONG, July 08: Reliance Jio has gone kaput in the city and its customers are alleging “betrayal” by the company. After disruption of services reported from Greater Laban, its customers from Greater Mawlai are also complaining the same. The company however claims that it has restored services in Greater Laban – where customers are still complaining about slow internet speed, which is disrupting their interface with their loved ones.

Jio customers from Mawlai complained that they are not used to such pathetic services earlier when the internet speed was satisfactory and is questioning how the better service was replaced by this terrible one now. Customers here said that the claim by Jio that its services were disrupted only in Laban is wrong since similar pathetic services are experienced by its customers in Greater Mawlai and even other parts of the city. “The only place where it is functioning properly is in the vicinities of Greater Laitumkhrah, Motinagar and Fire Brigade – because of the presence of the Jio tower there,” said exasperated users.
Users from both Greater Mawlai and Greater Laban can’t understand why its services have dropped to level. Customers from Greater Laban observed that as per the version of company regarding integration of a new site there, services should have otherwise been better than before instead of going worse. Infuriated customers from Mawlai Nongkwar said that the company should improve its service first than go for its network expansion. “How can Jio serve 90 percent of the population when it cannot even satisfactorily serve the existing ones,” they questioned.
Customers also complained that they are being provided with “false assurances” by the Jio’s customer service department regarding timelines and restoration of services. Customer opinions indicate that there remains no difference between Jio and other mobile service providers, of late, given the drastic fall in quality. There are also opinions that if the service of Jio continues to fall than its ambition of covering 90 percent of the population will remain a “pipe dream” and will only benefit other service provider. An overwhelming number of customers said that they have either chosen or switched over to Jio given its service quality – the opposite of which may deter them from continuing with Jio.
