SHILLONG, July 04: The president of the National People’s Party (NPP) in Meghalaya, WR Kharlukhi has dared the Congress to set up a candidate for the Ranikor by polls while stating that the Congress is slowly becoming a non entity in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills.

Reacting to reports of the Congress showing their interest to support the UDP candidate in the Ranikor by polls if the UDP withdraws their support from the coalition, Kharlukhi said, “Congress which will be a non entity in Khasi and Jaintia hills will not have a candidate and even if they put up a candidate, he or she will lose their security deposit.”
Meanwhile, senior Congress legislator, Charles Pyngrope confirmed that the Congress will definitely put up a candidate for the said polls.
Reacting to Kharlukhi’s statement, Pyngrope said that everybody is entitled to have their own say in a democracy but the NPP does not have to dare the Congress to put up a candidate.
