No proper map of Sweepers’ Colony in existence: Tynsong

SHILLONG, May 08: There is no proper map of the Sweepers’ Colony in the possession of either the Shillong Municipal Board, the Syiem of Mylliem or the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
This was informed by Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong who informed on Friday that the Directorate of Land Records and Survey has been given a deadline of 10 days to complete a detailed mapping of the area.


“We have given them 10 days time to complete the survey of the area,” Tynsong informed after the second meeting of the High Level Committee here on Friday.
Tynsong also said that the fresh land survey of the areas is required to have a clarity since one portion of the land belongs to the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) while another portion belongs to the Hima Mylliem.
“We will again meet to decide on our next course of action after the receiving the detailed survey map from the Directorate of Land and Records,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
When asked if any survey was done in the past, Tynsong said that till date, a detailed survey had never been carried out.
Tynsong also informed that the Committee is also collecting information on the number of 4th grade employees, working in various departments who are residing in the area.
Tynsong also informed that they have co-opted two new members including Tourism Minister, Metbah Lyngdoh and Meghalaya Industries Development Corporation (MIDC) Renikton L Tongdkhar.
