SHILLONG, May 17: The Congress party in Meghalaya is all set to protest against the move of the Karnataka Governor through a Dharna on Friday.
Upset over the political developments in Karnataka, the state Congress will hold a protest demonstration at Congress Bhawan, Shillong.
Informing this here on Thursday, Congress legislator Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh expressed shock over the turn of political events in Karnataka and said that this amounts to the murder of democracy.
Speaking about whether or not Meghalaya Congress will stake claim to form the government here, Ampareen said that in absence of the CLP leader Dr. Mukul Sangma who is campaigning for his daughter in Ampati, no decision has been made in this regard.
She, however, said that the Congress party will decide on its course of action after the protest demonstration.
It may be mention that both the Congress and the NPP have won 20 seats each after the results of the Williamnagar elections were announced recently. The Ampati by election will be a deciding factor as to who becomes single largest party in the state.
