SHILLONG, May 14: ‘Iewduh’ an upcoming Khasi feature film with focus on the oldest traditional market which is located in the heart of Shillong, will be screened at various film festivals before it debuts here in Meghalaya.
This was informed here on Monday by the director of the film, Pradip Kurbah.
Delving more into the details of the film, Kurbah said, “Iewduh is all about everyday people with everyday stories and talks about the different kind of relationships in the market. Iewduh is a character in itself.”
Kurbah who is an acclaimed film maker, while admitting that there is a lot of negativity in the market, said, “We have ignored this (negativity) in the film.” He said the film is also a small attempt at regaing the lost glory of Iewduh.
Kurbah has directed award winning films – ‘Onaatah’ – of the earth and ‘Ri’ – Homeland of the uncertainty.
The film produced by Shankar Lal Goenka was shot in just 23 days at Iewduh market. On its successful completion, the team also expressed its gratitude to the Syiem of Hima Mylliem besides the shopkeepers for extending their support.
“The experience during the shoot for Iewduh has shown the open-mindedness and overall excitement for the film, from both Khasis and non-Khasis,” they said.
