SHILLONG, May 09: A dialogue with Harish Sadani the Founder and Director of Men against Violence and Abuse (MAVA), Mumbai on the subject ‘Engaging Men in Violence against Women’ will be held at Lachumiere Guest House, Upper Lachumiere on May 14.

Informing this here on Wednesday, Senior Programme Associate Balarisha Lyngdoh said that MAVA has pioneered efforts in India to engage boys and men to address issues of gender inequality and discrimination by interrogating the existing dominant model of Masculinity, and help stop prevent gender-based violence against women.
For the past 24 years, MAVA has been engaging young men in schools, colleges and communities in healthy conversations around sexual health and gender-sensitive behavior through leadership–driven training and using out-of-the box methods including interactive workshops, annual magazine, street- theatre and film-festivals.
It is expected that the programme will inspire men from different walks of life to work for the common objective in mitigating violence against women and children.
