He said that the State is blessed with rich natural resources but at times these resources are taken for granted and exploited to the maximum, especially when development projects are initiated. The Chief Minister said that a mechanism has to be worked out so that development and welfare projects can be taken in sync with a balance on the environment.
The project has a lot to gain since for the first time people and the community are being roped in as partners that would instill a sense of ownership among the stakeholders to carry forward the development initiative, the Chief Minister added.
The development objective of the Meghalaya Community- Led Landscapes Management Project is to strengthen community-led Landscapes management in selected landscapes in the state of Meghalaya. The project is being implemented by the Meghalaya Basin Development Agency with financial assistance from the World Bank.
