TURA, April 11: Police in East Garo Hills along with villagers of the same district have made further recoveries of hidden GNLA stash of ammunition following information of its presence.
It has been common knowledge that the Sohan D Shira led Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) had kept weapons and ammunition hidden in several locations across the district. Following the encounter killing of Sohan and subsequent drive by the police to find the same items, many recoveries have been made along with several arrests.

The recovery that was made on Wednesday comes in the wake of the recovery of huge number of guns after the arrest of five people.
“A massive search operation was launched in the former strongholds of the GNLA after the recovery of the earlier stash of weapons and ammunition a few days ago. The search continued over 3 days and was spread over Dorenkigre, Chachatgre, Bawegre and Nengmandalgre. Many of the villagers, who were well aware of the terrain also helped in the search,” said the Superintendent of Police, East Garo Hills (EGH) district, Ringrang TG Momin.
The well coordinated search has led to the recovery of a huge amount of ammunition from the villages of Dorenkigre, Chachatgre and Nengmandalgre. The area falls across the mighty Simsang River.
