Williamnagar elections: NCP candidate completes scrutiny

TURA, April 11: The scrutiny of the nomination of NCP candidate from Williamgnagar, Krenilla R Marak – widow of late Jonathone N Sangma was completed on Wednesday and she now joins another 8 contestants whose scrutiny was already completed earlier.
The news of Krenila’s nomination and completion of scrutiny was confirmed by the returning officer, PM Sangma who also added that the last day of withdrawal of nomination will be on April 13 next.


Williamnagar will see 9 contestants vying for the seat which includes former MLAs Deborah Marak (Congress) and Marcuise Marak of the NPP. Voting to the constituency will be held on April 27 with counting set for May 1.
It may be noted here that elections for the Williamnagar seat was postponed after the then NCP candidate, (L) Jonathone Sangma was killed in an IED blast just days before the Assembly elections in February.
