Objectionable messages to invite police action

TURA, Feb 12: Police have issued a warning against those sending ‘objectionable messages’ which are in violation of the Model Code of Conduct which are currently in force with Meghalaya going to polls on February 27 next.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) (DSB), East Garo Hills (EGH) district, RTG Momin has said that police will initiate action against the sender of such messages.

“This is in view of the objectionable messages on Short Message Service (SMS) being transmitted by some individuals with vested interests in the ensuing election thereby violating the provisions of Election Law, Model Code of Conduct and the directions and instructions issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI),” Momin said on Monday.
The individuals and parties receiving such messages have been advised to forward such messages along with the number of the sender to the Police Control Room phone number 03658-220390 and 9402324646 (Whatsapp) to enable the police to trace the original sender of the messages.
