SHILLONG, Feb 11: Senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), Rajiv Pratap Ruddy has said that Meghalaya has nothing to be proud about except for a good National Highway which has been built by the Centre.
“Meghalaya has nothing to be proud of except its good National Highway that too built by the Centre,” said the former Minister in Narendra Modi’s Government.
Speaking during a public gathering in Shillong on Sunday, Ruddy said, “Except for the roads constructed by NHAI there isn’t much of that Meghalaya should feel proud about regarding its government. The roads are also constructed by a central agency”.
When he was later asked to elaborate on statement, Rudy clarified “Meghalaya should match its footsteps with Centre and work together with the Central Government.”
He also claimed that the funds sent by the Centre to the state are not utilized properly.
Slamming the Congress party, Ruddy said that nothing was achieved when the Congress party was in power at the Centre and that this is also seen in Meghalaya where the Congress party is in power.
Exuding confidence that the BJP will come to power on its own in the state, he dubbed BJP president Amit Shah a ‘magic man’ and said “Now we have a magic man called Amit Shah, friends know that in whichever state he makes inroads, he conquers it”.
He also clarified that BJP will not have any pre-poll or post poll alliance and will form the Government on its own.
“BJP will fight the polls on its own, we will form the Government on our own and we will not have any pre poll or post poll alliance,” Ruddy said.
