SHILLONG, Feb 10: The executive committee of Mawmuthoh village has decided to invite the HSPDP leader and sitting legislator of Nongkrem Ardent M Basaiawmoit to attend a dorbar for resolving the recent misunderstanding between him and the village head.
“We would soon convene a dorbar meeting and if he (Ardent) agrees (to attend), we would like to resolve the matter,” Headman of Mawmuthoh village Riborlang Kharumnuid told reporters here on Saturday.
Earlier, Basaiawmoit had lashes out at the headman’s alleged indifferent attitude by refusing permission to the HSPDP for holding of a meeting in the village at the eleventh hour.

Kharumnuid explained that the reason for refusal to grant the permission was after he was informed by a sector officer that the party had not sought any permission from the district administration for holding the meeting on February 2, 2018.
“In fact I had received a letter from the party prior to the meeting but when I was told that the party requires permission from the district administration I took the matter up with the executive committee, which accordingly took a call to turn down the request,” he said.
Maintaining that the village’s refusal to grant permission was not that it is against the HSPDP chief, the headman said, “We are not taking sides and it is not true that we are supporting a particular candidate as our job is just to ensure peace and tranquillity.”
The meeting of the HSPDP however was held in one of the supporter’s residence. Basaiawmoit when showcaused on the matter had maintained that it was a closed-door meeting and the party had not used any loudspeaker.
Meanwhile, the village headman also expressed concern over the statement made by Basaiawmoit during the closed-door meeting for threatening that he would see the headman after the Assembly polls.
“Calling me that I behave like a street kid and that he would see me after the elections has caused mental agony to me and my family especially my mother,” Kharumnuid said while urging the authority concerned to ensure his and his family’s safety.
