SHILLONG, Feb 09: BJP national general Secretary Ram Lal visited the BJP office in Shillong on Friday to take stock of the party’s preparedness for the ensuing Assembly elections.
With the BJP fielding 47 candidates for the upcoming polls, Ram Lal expressed confidence that the party will form the next government in the state.

Ram Lal who is on a tour of the poll bound states in the Northeast, seemed content with election preparedness here in Meghalaya where he also held meetings with karyakartas of the BJP.
Stating that the party will put up a tough fight in all the three states, the BJP leader said, “We are fighting to win and form the government.”
Meanwhile, BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli said that the party has a phenomenal opportunity here in Meghalaya. “It has been 15 years of lack of performance by the Congress and it is an interesting election where the Congress party has chosen not to want to fight on its performance, doesn’t want to refer to the promises it had made and is trying to create false bogies of a BJP having divisive agenda and as far as winning seats is concerned, we will form the government here,” he said.
After Meghalaya BJP made a big goof up in its chargesheet that was launched yesterday by Union Tourism Minister and BJP’s poll in-charge in Meghalaya KJ Alphons in Shillong, the BJP was all out to justify its charge sheet.
Kohli while justifying the party’s stand on naming Labour Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh as key accused in a Police Recruitment scam blamed the present incumbent Government for indulging in all types of corruption.
Asked why the BJP is fielding only two women candidates in the upcoming polls, Kohli said that the party is focused on the winnability factor in Meghalaya.
