SHILLONG, Jan 12: The North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice Chancellor (VC) SK Srivastava on Friday assured to make the University campus friendly for persons with disabilities (PwDs) by putting in proper facilities.
“The VC has assured us that the University will provide facilities for such students of the region and that it is also willing to welcome all students from all fields of life and will ensure discrimination to none,” said NEHU Students’ Union (NEHUSU) finance secretary Rangdajied Marwein soon after their meeting with the VC.

He said that this was after the Union had sought the intervention of the VC to ensure that specially challenged students find a place to carry forward their educational dreams.
According to Marwein, the VC also assured to look into the problems faced by students in getting admission for Ph.D in the English department.
The finance secretary also informed the NEHUSU will conduct a follow up on these issues even as he threatened that the Union would be compelled to take up agitations if the authority fails to pay attention to needs of the students.
