Tribal students from Meghalaya present Daivadasakam in Kerala

SHILLONG, Jan 11: An 18 – member contingent consisting of tribal students from Meghalaya participated in the annual Sivagiri Pilgrimage at Varkala, Kerala from December 31, 2017 to January 1, 2018. The contingent was sponsored by Shillong based sociocultural organization, Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Centre (SNGCC) and was led by its president, MK Mohanan and general secretary, Belbora Wankhar.


On the occasion, the contingent presented Daivadasakam - The Universal Prayer - composed originally in Malayalam by saint, philosopher, social reformer, Sree Narayana Guru and translated to Khasi by former chief secretary, HWT Syiem.
It may be mentioned that Daivadasakam has been translated into hundred languages all over the world including Garo and Jaintia beside Khasi from Meghalaya.
The contingent also participated in a procession and they along with the president and general secretary were felicitated by the management of Sivagiri Pilgrimage. The president and general secretary also spoke on the occasion and the tribal contingent received wide applause.
