SHILLONG, Jan 11: Police on Thursday registered a case against CSWO President Agnes Kharshiing and TUR member Angela Rangad. The case is in relation to falsely accusing former MLA Sanbor Shullai of nepotism by using his position to employ his family members in Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
The case has been registered under Section 182 which deals with false information, with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person and Section 500 which deals with criminal defamation.

The case was filed on the direction of Court of Judicial Magistrate, Shillong, which directed the police to register the case under the appropriate provisions of law and to conduct investigation accordingly.
Mentionably, the state police have also registered a case against Shullai based on the joint FIR filed by Kharshiing and Rangad with the Sadar Police Station. The women activists in their complaint on January 4, 2018, have accused the former legislator of abusing his power by appointing his two daughters and four other relatives in the Assembly Secretariat.
This was followed by a counter FIR filed by Shullai on January 6, 2018 with the Sadar Police Station seeking action against the two women activists for filing a false FIR against him as he alleged the move was done in collision with his political opponents ahead of the Assembly polls.
