SHILLONG, Jan 09: The Hima Mylliem on Tuesday said it would soon write to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to direct the former acting Syiem of the Hima, Ricky Nelson Syiem, to surrender the money of the Hima allegedly misappropriated by him.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, newly appointed acting Syiem of the Hima, Ainam Manik Syiem, said that soon after he took charge over the office of the Syiem, he found that Rs 4 lakh was missing from the Hima’s exchequer.
“This financial irregularity was detected after we had gone through the cash book where it was found that it did not tally with amount of money deposited by the Hima in its bank account,” he said.
The Acting Syiem said he would immediately bring this to the notice of the KHADC executive committee for necessary action.
“We would urge the KHADC to direct the former Acting Syiem to refund Rs 4 lakh that was found missing from the Hima’s bank account,” he said.
On the other hand, Myntri (minister) of the Hima RS Kharlukhi further alleged that the former Acting Syiem is still holding back the official vehicle of the Hima Mylliem.
“Moreover, he (Ricky) had misused his position by writing in the name plate of the vehicle as Syiem of Hima Mylliem when he was being appointed only as an Acting Syiem,” he said.
Kharbuki said that Ricky has sullied the office of the Hima Mylliem with his arrests as he stated, “He has broken all record as there has never been a Syiem who has been arrested so far.”
It may be mentioned here that following complaints received, the KHADC had recently removed Ricky as the Acting Syiem and appointed Ainam Manik in his place.
Earlier, 28 myntris along with the former Acting Syiem had also demanded the KHADC to revoke its decision to remove him as the Acting Syiem.
