SHILLONG, Dec 06: Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma has revealed that the Congress party in the state is well aware of that certain Congress legislators are planning to resign and has dared these ‘rebel’ legislators to resign as MLAs.
“We already know who will resign in due course of time and we will be happy to see some are resigning from the post of MLA that is why we have given (them) enough time,” Dr. Sangma said.

“If somebody has the courage, let them resign as MLAs,” Dr. Sangma said while further accusing the rebel MLAs for betraying the Congress supporters across the state.
Dr. Sangma also said that such legislators have a problem in staying loyal to the people who have elected them as representatives.
“Thousands of Congress supporters are betrayed. It’s not a question of betraying Mr A or B, but its betraying thousands of Congress supporters who have given them opportunity to serve them and the state,” he added.
It may be noted here that Cabinet Minister, Comingone Ymbon had recently submitted his resignation letter to the Chief Minister while also accusing the latter of indulging in one - upmanship. Besides Ymbon, former Cabinet Ministers, Prestone Tynsong and Sngiawbhalang Dhar are also expected to soon join the National People’s Party (NPP) to contest the upcoming 2018 state elections.
In spite of these losses, Dr. Sangma maintains that the Congress party will win around 40 seats in the coming elections.
“I am telling you we are coming back with close to 40 seats in 2018, mark my words,” Dr. Sangma had said here on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sangma has also urged the people of the state in general to be analytical and figure out the reason why these legislators have decided to resign.
