TURA, Dec 06: In an absolute shocker, a havildar of the 3rd battalion in Jowai, Jaintia Hills, was killed after a family dispute where five miscreants allegedly beat up the victim in the village of Damas in North Garo Hills. The victim succumbed to his injuries while on the way to Guwahati in Assam on Tuesday.

Samson D Sangma who originally hailed from Rewak in South Garo Hills and was married in Damas succumbed to his injuries while on the way to Guwahati for medical care on Tuesday. He was brutally beaten up by a gang of five men due to a family dispute on Monday.
“The dispute led to him being beaten up after which it seems they reached a compromise and had secretly tried to get him treated in Dainadubi and then in Goalpara. He was later referred to Guwahati and succumbed to his injuries on the way,” said North Garo Hills SP, Dalton Marak.
The SP confirmed that a murder case has been registered at the Dainadubi outpost though no one has been arrested as yet.
“The suspects have all fled their houses after his death and registration of the case. A search for the people involved in the murder is currently underway. The matter is currently being investigated and we expect a breakthrough very soon,” said Marak.
The sensational murder of the policeman in Damas is being attributed to quite a few influential people of the same village with police raids currently on to nab those involved in the murder.
