SHILLONG, Nov 28: The Lok Janshakti Party, being concerned by the plight of the farmers of Meghalaya has urged the Congress led state government to consider waiving the loans that farmers across the state have taken for agricultural purposes.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma who is also holding the Agriculture portfolio, the LJP informed him that visits made to several villages in East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi and Jaintia Hills and interactions with the residents thereof had revealed the plight of farmers who are unable to repay loans taken from the government.
In this backdrop, the LJP has urged Dr. Sangma to consider waiving the existing loans of our farmers under Kisan Credit Card or otherwise.
