64th All India Co-Operative Week 2017 gets underway

SHILLONG, Nov 14: The 64th All India Cooperative Week Celebration 2017 under the main theme “Empowering people through Digitalization of Cooperative” and sub theme “Good Governance and Professionalization through Cooperative” was inaugurated on Tuesday at Sajer Hall, Nongpoh by Meghalaya Cooperation Minister, Roshan Warjri.

The week long programme is being organized by the Cooperation Department, Government of Meghalaya along with the State Level Cooperative Federation.
Addressing to the gathering, Warjri said that that unemployment is one of the crisis that the state and the country as a whole has been facing today, therefore it is imperative to promote and strengthen the cooperative movement for creating employment so as to enable the people especially the unemployed youth to make their livelihood more institutionalized.
Warjri praised the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank for its untiring efforts in extending their services by setting up of many branches at different places particularly at far-flung areas to provide financial services to the farmers and the societies.
