Former minister suffers heart attack, rushed to Guwahati

TURA, Nov 05: Former minister and Phulbari MLA, Manirul Islam Sarkar was rushed to Nem Care Hospital in Guwahati after suffering a massive heart attack on November 1, 2017. His condition is still critical.
Sarkar was at home in Chibinang when the attack took place at about 2 am from where he was rushed to Goalpara and later to Guwahati after being referred by the doctors in Goalpara.


Sarkar, a two time MLA from Phulbari is expected to contest the upcoming elections in 2018 on a NPP ticket and is one of the front runners for the seat.
“He was rushed to Guwahati and is currently in Nem Care Hospital. His condition is still not stable and one of the doctors, Dr Farhin Iqbal, is currently looking after him. Once his condition is stable, he will have to undergo an open heart or a bypass surgery, outside of the North East,” said younger brother and Shyamnagar MDC, Rahibul Islam Sarkar.
