Protest against demonetization gains momentum in Manipur

IMPHAL, Nov 04: All the Opposition parties in Manipur will join the Left parties to protest against the November 8, 2016 demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes then in circulation. With this development, the total number of political parties to protest in Imphal on November 8 has risen to 10 now.
The political parties are INC, CPI, CPI-M, NCP, AITC, AAP, RSP, AIFB, JDS and BSP.


On the day, these 10 political parties will organize a join mass rally in Imphal while observing the day as ‘Black Day’. In this regard, these 10 political parties have come together and formed a “Black Day Observation Committee.
According to the leaders of this Black Day Observation Committee, the demonetization of high value currency notes by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year has given hardship to the entire country. They maintain that even though the NDA Government has been saying that the move was to check the issue of black money but it was never addressed.
Leaders of these 10 political parties also said that the demonetization has sparked acute inflation in the country.
Meanwhile, as part of the Black Day observation on November 8, a public meeting will be held at Shumang Leela Sanglen in Imphal after the mass rally in different areas.
They will come with placards with the messages on the ill effect of demonetization by the NDA Government.
In the public meeting, many resource persons will speak on the ill effects of demonetization, according to the leaders of the 10 political parties.
