SHILLONG, Nov 04: Former MLA/MDC (L) FounderStrong Cajee’s widow, Sarita Lyngdoh Nongpiur may be contesting the 2018 state elections with the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) contemplating the idea of fielding her as its candidate from her late husband’s constituency.
Sources informed on Saturday that Nongpiur has already expressed her interest in joining the PDF.
It may be mentioned here that Teibor Pathaw, who had recently joined the party and was appointed as the president of the Mawlai Zonal PDF Committee, is also vying for the party ticket from the constituency.
Pathaw is the founder and chairman of the Ranger Security Security Organisation (RSSO).
However, sources informed that the PDF leadership may consider allotting the party ticket to Nongpiur following the recent video clipping that went viral in social media about the protest of the Pathaw’s staff over the alleged misuse of their provident fund.
They also said that the party had only appointed Pathaw as the president of the Mawlai Zonal PDF Committee but is yet to take a final call on the allotment of party ticket in the constituency. The decision will be taken by state election committee.
Sources further informed that the Pathaw is also alleged to have met the leaders of the National People’s Party (NPP) and also tried to convince some of the PDF MDCs to join the NPP to contest the upcoming poll.
