One killed, 2 injured in horrific accident near MH

SHILLONG, Sep 12: In a horrific incident, a woman died on the spot while two others were critically injured when a maruti eeco van dashed against a roadside shop near Military Hospital (MH) in the city here on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at around 10.50 am when the maruti eeco van (ML 05D 6195) driven by one Santosh Biswa (40) proceeding towards civil point on crossing MES point went off road and rammed through a rock and a roadside shop, police said.


In the process, the vehicle hit the shop owner identified as Pinky Begum (24), who died on the spot, while her three-year-old son Intiyas Ali and one pedestrian Vikash Nath (31) sustained fractured legs.
The injured persons were immediately shifted to Military Hospital and later taken to NEIGRIHMS for medical attention.
Meanwhile, the reason for the driver losing control of the vehicle could not be ascertained as some claimed the driver was under the influence of alcohol while others said he had an epilepsy attack.
