Teachers are like gardeners: Warjri

TURA, Sep 05: Teachers are akin to gardeners as they render selfless services and help mold students into better human beings as was observed by Meghalaya Chief Information Commissioner, P B O Warjri on Tuesday.
“A teacher demonstrates to a student and makes them understand better, which shapes and mold their thinking”, Warjri said, while adding that the success of a student is the biggest reward to the teachers.

In appreciation of such services, five teachers and three retired teachers of West Garo Hills were also felicitated on the day. Warjri and the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills (WGH) district, Pravin Bakshi handed over the awards to the teachers for their dedicated services.
Bakshi said that teachers are very special as they shape and transform the future citizens of the society. He further stressed that a person cannot succeed in life without a teacher and for which people should respect and do their best as a sign of gratitude towards them.
He also urged the students to imbibe values along with their knowledge to become exemplary people.
The District Awardees of West Garo Hills district are Kalyanee Khaund, Assistant teacher of St. Xavier’s  Secondary School Tura, Enderson Ch Marak, Headmaster, Asanang Government Aided Upper Primary School and Ceolin A Sangma, Headmistress, Upper Chandmary, Government Lower Primary School.
The Best Scout Master was awarded to Donontho G Sangma, Scout Master, Assistant Teacher, Dalu Sacred Heart Secondary School and Best Guide Captain was awarded to Josephine N Marak, Guide Captain, Assistant Teacher, St. Xavier’s Secondary School.
A special award for the recently retired teachers was also presented to Irolline Ch Momin Retired Principal, Christian Girls Higher Secondary School and Grenethson Ch Marak, Retired Teacher, Edenbari Government Lower Primary School in recognition for their dedicated service.
Kalyanee Khaund, while speaking on behalf of the teacher awardees expressed her gratitude to the Education department for conferring the award and also extended her gratitude to her family, colleagues and the institution for their constant support and encouragement.
Colourful cultural programmes enthralled the audience during the function presented by various schools of the town.
