SHILLONG, Aug 12: The Indian Army has requested the Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma to intervene in its attempts to procure land in the city which will be handed over to the parents of late Major David Manlun who was martyred earlier this year in counter militancy operations in Nagaland.
This appeal was made to Dr. Sangma by the General Officer Commanding 101 Area, Lieutenant General DS Ahuja who had called on him on Saturday to discuss a number of issues.

Ahuja also informed Dr. Sangma that Major Manlun’s parents are currently living in a small rented accommodation and that the Army is planning to procure land and construct a house for them in honour of the supreme sacrifice made by their son who had managed to kill 3 militants before succumbing to his injuries in Mon district, Nagaland on June 6 this year.
During the course of the visit, Ahuja discussed a number of issue with Dr. Sangma which include internal security and disaster management, intelligence sharing besides issues related to defence land encroachment.
