HDR calls for people – police partnership to curb crime

SHILLONG, Aug 12: State Home Minister, HDR Lyngdoh has called for active partnership between the people and police so as to bring an end to crime and to bring about peace and harmony in the state.
Speaking during an event to mark the inauguration of the Nonghyllam Police Station on Saturday, Lyngdoh said that such a partnership is the only way to progress and development even as he urged the people to immediately report any suspicious activities to the police.


Meanwhile, Lyngdoh also informed that this is the third Police Station in South West Khasi Hills district and the 57th overall in the state. He lauded the efforts of the representative and stakeholders of the area under whose leadership the Police Station was inaugurated on Saturday.
He also reiterated that the government is responsive and accommodative enough to consider the demands of the people and in fulfilling their dreams and aspirations. “Had it not been of the hard endeavour of the government, the creation of this police station would have been impossible,” he said.
Lyngdoh also lauded the police personnel for their untiring service and dedication and through their hard work and sacrifice through which they have curtailed and contained criminal activities to a large extent. He congratulated and appreciated police personnel for the prompt action taken in relieving 2 persons who have been recently abducted by criminals.
State PWD (Roads) Minister, MM Danggo, the Director General of Police, SB Singh Deputy Inspector General, AR Mawthoh, Langrin MDC, M Mongrel and the Syiem of Hima Langrin, N Syiemiong were others who spoke during the event.
