SHILLONG, Aug 08: Heavy bandobast is underway at the Assam House in Dhankheti area of the city for the ensuing visit by the BJP National President, Amit Shah. The authorities of the Assam House are leaving no stone unturned for this high profile visit by Shah, who is expected to put up there.

Keeping in mind that Meghalaya is going to polls early next year. Top sources told Meghalaya Times that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tipped Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal to make elaborate arrangements for Shah’s visit to Shillong, most likely on August 12 since it is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile sources informed that as many as eight Congress ministers from the ruling Congress led MUA government have made appointments to meet Shah which adds weight to the claims made by the Meghalaya BJP President, Shibun Lyngdoh in the recent past.
It is also learnt that NPP Chief and Tura MP, Conrad Sangma along with other NPP leaders are also in queue to meet Shah but hasn’t received any confirmation so far in this regard. Sources informed that NPP being an ally of NDA will get an automatic chance to meet the BJP President.
Sources also informed that Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananra Sonowal and the Convener of NEDA and Assam Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma are expected to visit Shillong along with the National President - who will inaugurate the BJP state office here at Bivar Road area of the city.
The city traffic department meanwhile has already taken note of the high profile visit and has already effected proper management of traffic in and around the routes right from Monday. The normal traffic congestion that is part and parcel in this busy route in the city was at its manageable level from the beginning of this week.
