TURA, July 16: A resident of Mahendraganj has been accused of fraudulently obtaining his election ID after an RTI seeking information on his EPIC revealed the address and information mentioned in his epic card was not even available with the South West Garo Hills (SWGH) election office.
The matter came to light after one Muktadur Hussain of Mahendraganj filed an RTI in the SWGH Election office to verify an EPIC of one Mostafa Ahmed (EPIC – KHVQ595520) who claimed to be a resident of House # 247, Serial# 729 of Majherchar under Mahandraganj.

The house however is alleged to belong to one Chand Miah leading to the Election office to state that no such name had been enrolled under SWGH for the same address. The RTI was filed on Dec 8, 2016 with a reply provided on Jan 19, 2017.
“The RTI has revealed that there is no relation between Mostofa Ahmed and Miah and Miah’s address was fraudulently used. This reveals that Ahmed has cheated the election office and also violated the law and order of the state as per the inquiry done by a magistrate of SWGH election office. The question now is how he could also obtain an export import license, PWD Registration license while also applyting for an international license, all based on a fraudulent EPIC card,” asked Hussain.
The inquiry was conducted after a complaint by Hussain to the deputy commissioner, Election of SWGH.
