Rise in bike theft in Tura; Police calls for public cooperation

TURA, July 16: After a lull, sporadic cases of bike thefts have resurfaced in Tura with police calling on the public to cooperate and take preventive measures to foil such thefts. 
In this connection checking was beefed up in and around Tura and on Saturday night police carried out a operation to nab the thieves based on inputs.

Dalu Police received inputs that one of the route for transport of such stolen bikes is via Nokchi towards Bangladesh border,and three bike thieves on three stolen bikes from Tura were proceeding towards Bangladesh via Nokchi- Halchati area.
Accordingly an operation was planned. However, the bike thieves sensing danger abandoned the 3 bikes and managed to escape in Halchati Jungle.
In this connection West Garo Hills Police has requested the public to render all possible co operation and to take precautionary measures.
As per the advisory the police has requested the public to abstain from parking on roads or dark alley and try and come up with a community or common parking space which may be guarded by personnel deployed in common interest by the community. To report or inform police about any suspicious persons/any suspicious movements of persons/known/unknown etc, photographs videos to PCR WhatsApp number.
