SHILLONG, July 11: Come March 2018, Shillong will be able to boast of having an Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) with the completion of the facility presently under construction at Mawlai – Mawiong.
Informing this here on Tuesday, Commissioner and Secretary in-charge Transport Israel W Ingty said, “The project is expected to be completed within the timeline, by 2018. It is halfway through and the progress of work is 50 per cent.”
Funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC), the total cost of the project is Rs 48 crore.
“Out of this, Rs 12 crore has been received for construction of the project and now we are waiting for another Rs 36 crore,” he said.
According to him, the project once completed will ease the problem of traffic congestion in the state capital to a great extent.
The ISBT is being built at a 60 acre plot at Mawlai Mawïong.
