SHILLONG, May 18: Members of the North Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association have come out in open condemnation of the incumbent Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University, Professor SK Srivastava while claiming that he had brazenly tampered with the minutes of the Executive Council and reported the completely distorted version on the issue of HASA in the Academic Council meeting.
While informing that this Academic Council meeting was held on May 17 and 18 last, NEHUTA President, Professor Xavier P Mao said that the VC had indulged in this ‘brazen act of misdemeanour’ for his personal gains and to placate the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
“With much regret NEHHU Teachers ‘Association (NEHUTA) strongly feels that the sanctity of the authorities of the university systematically and wilfully were violated by the Vice Chancellor as the Chairman of the Academic Council and the Executive Council of the University,” Mao said.
He also informed that NEHUTA has strongly condemned such manipulations and expressed deep concerns at such unwarranted acts on the part of the head of the institution.
It may be noted that following the strong objections from the members the VC had to subsequently withdraw the ‘manipulated’ minutes.
“The act has considerably dented the credibility of the Vice Chancellor which has shocked and shaken the confidence and faith of NEHU community,” Mao asserted.
