SHILLONG, May 18: Celebrating existence and promoting healthy life is Northeast India’s renowned musician and the forever young rockstar from Shillong, Lou Majaw who turned 70 on Thursday and in celebration walked the 65 odd kilometers from Shillong to Jowai promoting healthy and responsible lifestyle.
“This walk is to mark my 70th birth anniversary and it is a walk for health,” Majaw said while adding, “A few changes in our lifestyle will not hurt anyone, instead will help us live longer.”
It was also informed that this walk is a curtain raiser for the 76th birth anniversary celebration of legendary poetic songwriter, singer, painter, writer, and Nobel Prize laureate, Bob Dylan.
Lou is one of Dylan’s biggest fans and is often called or known as the Bob Dylan of North East.
Lou who was accompanied by his friends from Shillong, Jowai and Guwahati, started the walk at 4am on Thursday morning and reached Jowai by nightfall.
On reaching Jowai, the musician will stay back for a few more days to prepare for the big day – the 20th celebration of the Bob Dylan Festival 2017.
Besides this, Jowai is set to witness more than just a walk, but melodious music is expected to lift the spirits in the days to come.
