JBCC demands ouster of power minister from the cabinet

SHILLONG, May 16: Accusing power minister Sniawbhalang Dhar for his alleged anti-party activities by setting up a candidate against deputy chief minister RC Laloo in 2018, the Jowai Block Congress Committee (JBCC) has demanded Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief also the chief advisor to the state government to drop him from the cabinet.
“Party proceeding should be drawn against him (Dhar) as it is a fit case for the party to take strong and necessary action by dropping this minister immediately from the Cabinet, “said JBCC president Andrew A Shullai in a letter to the MPCC chief Dr. DD Lapang.


Claiming that there have been reports from its unit that Dhar had personally visited their village and announced that he would set up a candidate from Jowai, the home constituency of deputy chief minister RC Laloo, Shullai alleged, “As reported by the units, he (Dhar) has conducted several meetings in many places, some in closed doors and some in open platform directly challenging that his candidate will contest against the sitting Congress MLA”.
 According to him, the matter was also reported in section of the media when Dhar publicly announce his candidate in a public meeting held at Mukhla village, which falls under 2-Jowai LA Constituency.
 He further stated that the activities of Dhar has damaged the image of the Congress Party and raised questions about the discipline of the party.
 Pointing out that the Jowai constituency is one of the stronghold of the Congress, Shullai said, “This kind of anti-party activity by a minister has created confusion in the mind of the party supporters.”
“Such activity which portrays the party in a bad light should be put to stop immediately,” he added.
