Two arrested in Guwahati jewelry heist case

GUWAHATI, May 13: New developments have surfaced in the sensational jewelry shop heist case in Guwahati with the arrest of two persons besides a drug peddler who is in the most wanted list of the police.
The crime branch of Guwahati city police on Friday night had arrested Pakhi Miya alias Samsul Haque Talukdar, a most wanted drug peddler from Murajhar area in Nagaon district.

Police also arrested a Manipur based robber Bikram Engte from Manipuribasti area in Guwahati on Friday night, who was camping at a hotel.
A top police official said that, the drug peddler had provided arms and ammunition to the gang which had robbed the jewelry store.
Earlier, the crime branch of Guwahati city police had arrested Prem Singh (security guard), Nilkamal Singh and Basanta Singh for their alleged involvement in the robbery of MP Jewellers.
Guwahati city police commissioner Hiren Nath said that police will soon arrest the gang of four who looted several kilograms valuable jewellery during the heist.
